Dear Friends of the Medical Clown Project,
Today, our community needs us more than ever. As our society is rapidly shifting to a virtual environment, where social distancing is necessary to protect public health, Medical Clown Project is at the cutting edge, adapting to meet the needs of patients, caregivers, and medical professionals in new ways. Our clowns cannot visit hospitals and care centers in person right now, so we are quickly uncovering new ways to bring our services to the people who need them most.
As experts in engaging with empathy in the healthcare environment, we are uniquely positioned to do this.
Calvin, our Artistic Director, has started weekly Facebook Live sessions for an interactive virtual healthcare clowning experience.
We are hoping to expand this with bringing HIPAA compliant video conferencing to our communities, so that patients, residents, and staff don’t miss out on much needed interaction to keep their health strong and their spirits lifted.
Working with our extended community and advisory board, we are looking at what training we can offer to others to help humanize virtual engagement beyond the walls of the traditional health care setting.
Supporting our patients, residents, and our broader community is apparent more than ever. Right now, 100% of your donations through the end of April will go directly towards this development of our Healthcare Clowning Virtual Programming.
Recently, while speaking with one of the program managers of our partners, we learned that there is much agitation among residents and caregivers due to being overburdened with the impact of social distancing and isolation. We’re needed more than ever.
